The 6th Graduation Ceremony at RVTTI was held on Friday 4th Nov 2016. The Key Guest of Honour, the Deputy President Mr. William Ruto and Dr. Dinah Mwinzi, the Principle Secretary, State Department of Vocational and Technical Training, Ministry of Education and many other VIP guests were present to attend this ceremony and to officially launch the Smart Classroom.
Mr. Edwin Tarno the Principal of RVTTI and his staff (HODs) escorted the VIP’s to the Smart Classrooms. Where the Principle Secretary cut the ribbon to the Plaque located at the entrance of the Classroom and read it out loud. The PS was received by and Instructor who explained the usability and functionality of the Smart board. He demonstrated the multimedia functions and the interactive use of the interface in teaching and learning. The PS and the party were very impressed especially with the touch screen function of the Smart board and the instant results and feedback of the program when performing the actions. The PS and the party then proceeded to the Second room where the teachers were waiting at the workstations. The teachers explained and demonstrated the functions of the digital library, the training equipment, the engineering design kits and gave practical examples of the use of the Smart Classroom activities in the industry. The team was particularly impressed by the Robot, as it was programmed to perform a traditional African dance.
Mr. Edwin Tarno the Principal of RVTTI and all guests present recognized the vital importance of Smart Classrooms for TVET improvement in Kenya and are already looking expansion to more classrooms. And how the Smart Classroom could impact the whole East African Community by harmonizing education systems, curricula and strategies.
