Meeting with the Minister Mr. Damantang Albert Camara
The visit of the official delegation from the Ministry of Technical Education, Professional Training, Employment and Labor (METFPET) from Guinee to the Netherlands in July 2017, had inspired them to further develop their plans for the new Regional Vocational Training Centers based on their experiences at Devotra. After reporting to the minister on their findings, the minister decided to invite Devotra to visit Guinee.
Ronald Simon and Patti van de Werff have visited the country for a week in October for a thorough fact finding mission. We visited different levels of Vocational Training Centers in various regions, where we had in depth discussions with management, lecturers and other staff members. We also went to see one of the new Regional Vocational Trainings Centers (ERAM) that is being built at the moment.
Meeting with the staff members of the Ministry of Vocational Training
At the ministry of METFPET and the ministry of Youth we had several meetings and very interesting discussions on the possibilities on how to improve, upgrade and rehabilitate the existing vocational education centers and system in Guinee. With a small group of the ministerial staff we have been discussing and determining the deviation of trades and courses related to the different regions, since the activities vary per region.
In the mean time we had the opportunity to demonstrate the Smart Classroom Concept to the various parties, showing how easy the Smart Classroom can be integrated in an existing situation with an immediate positive effect of the skills development of the students.
Now that we have submitted our report on the mission we are awaiting the official feedback from the ministry on the further steps for creating our partnership.
